Blurb:
Taking place in an industrial city on a living planet, our game is a 2-D platformer with emphasis on the story. You play as a small robot named I.R.I.S., who is tasked to find out why disasters have been getting more intense recently. You discover a way to speak with the planet and must convince the people of the city of what’s happening.
Detailed Description
Our game addresses that we, as humans, are not killing the Earth. Instead, we are making it uninhabitable for us. This is primarily a platforming and narrative driven game. The player takes the role of I.R.I.S., a robot made by Alina and Olean. The main gameplay loop starts in the shop with them, moves to the tram where the player can talk with other citizens of the world to hear the impacts of the changing climate, and then moves onto the journey out into the wilderness. As you are exploring out into the wilderness, the player will face obstacles relating to natural disasters (ex. hurricanes), and on the return trip, they will face obstacles relating to unnatural disasters (ex. Acid rain). Each time the player reaches the end of the level, they speak with The Creature, an ancient being who lets them know more information as to why these disasters are taking place.
